Scratch Art Design

Materials: Scratch art paper, white paper, scratch tools, black markers, white transfer paper (optional)

1.) I cut scratch art paper in half and had cardboard templates that were the same size. The students traced the templates in their sketchbook and created a design in the rectangle that extended beyond it.

2.) We used white carbon transfer paper (from Sax) to transfer the drawings to the scratch art paper.

3.) The students used the scratch tools, I encouraged them to create texture and not just scratch off all of the black.

4.) The students glued the scratch art paper to a 9'' x 12'' sheet of white paper. They used a black marker to extend their design onto the white paper.
