Islamic Tile Prints



 materials: post-it notes, 3'' foam squares, ballpoint pens, acrylic paint, paper for printing

1.After looking at examples of Islamic tiles, the students sketch ideas on post-it notes.

2. They choose elements of the design to press in and highlight them.

3. We trace over the designs on top of the foam, then press them in with ballpoint pens.

4. We do test prints in our sketchbooks by painting the foam with acrylic paint and rolling over it lightly with a brayer.

Each plate has the possibility of producing 4 different prints depending on which corner is pointed towards the middle:
