Clay Pinch Pot Birds

Materials: clay, needle tools, glazes

1.) Shape about a pound of clay into a smooth ball.

2.) Make a pinch pot.

3.) Score and slip the edges of the pinch pot and fold them together like a taco.

4.) Smooth the seam with your fingers to blend the edges together. Pinch one side flat to be the tail and pinch a beak on the other side.
5.) Some students added slab wings, some drew them on.

6.) The birds were bisque fired, then painted with underglazes and coated with clear glaze before being fired again.
